This is a warmer winter because this is a La Nina year

Once a decade there is a La Nina year which brings warmer weather patterns across the continent. Also, once a decade there is an El Nino year that has the opposite effect bringing lots of rain and a wetter climate. These changes and the weather patterns are affected by equilibrium in the oceans that are changing weather patterns due to global warming.

When swimming if someone were to drive to the bottom of the water, then the water at the bottom is colder than the water at the top of the surface. In the oceans there is an equilibrium
of water where the cold water is at the bottom of the ocean. This line between the warmer surface water and colder bottom waters is normally equal. However, due to global warming
this equilibrium line is changing and bringing colder water closer to the surface and the warmer water closer to the bottom of the ocean. This directly impacts the climate by changing the weather patterns from this shift in ocean water temperatures. The equilibrium line in the oceans is more at a slant diagonal line compared to a level mark.

The ski slopes will not be open as long this season. In Texas there was such an extreme drought this year that all the lakes dried up. People that had boats could not take their boats out because the water level was so low. In the South there are still leaves on the trees in the middle of winter. And in Arizona a huge dust storm swept across Phoenix so big that cars parked in the garage still got covered in sand. To see some of the effects of a La Nina year watch these amazing videos of some of the events that took place this La Nina.
